State Senator Uecker Introduces Down Syndrome Awareness License Plate Bill

State Senator Joe Uecker (R-Miami Township) today introduced legislation that would create a Down syndrome awareness license plate with proceeds supporting advocacy efforts for individuals living with Down syndrome and their families.

Down syndrome occurs in one out of every 792 births. More than 250,000 people nationwide are living with Down syndrome. Advances in research and rehabilitative services allow many individuals living with Down syndrome to lead successful and fulfilling lives, contributing much to their families and communities. However, continued support and understanding is crucial in combating misconceptions about the condition.
