Vanessa Armenta

Program Manager of Diversity Outreach

Vanessa Armenta joined the team in 2019 leading the Latino outreach work for the organization, strengthening DSACO’s relationships with Spanish-speaking families.

In 2021 she stepped into the position of Program Manager of Diversity Outreach to help expand our efforts to further our reach to other minority groups including, but not limited to, African American, Somali, Asian and Latino families impacted by Down syndrome in Central Ohio. By providing cultural expertise and support, DSACO intentionally engages new families, explores and establishes partnerships with community organizations and businesses to enhance and grow collaborative minority outreach efforts.

In addition to serve as a liaison between existing and new minority families, Vanessa oversees the planning, promoting, implementing, and evaluating DSACO-hosted educational seminars and programs for minority families.

Vanessa relocated from Mexico to Columbus, Ohio in 2009 and lives in Plain City with her husband Chuy and their two children; Elissa and Gerardo, who has Autism. She volunteered at an orphanage in Mexico assisting the institution, but it was after Gerardo’s diagnosis that Vanessa took a profound interest in advocacy and awareness of children with special needs. She enjoys cooking, traveling, photography and spending time with family and friends.
