This DSACO program was developed as a result of new prenatal screenings for Down syndrome that are administered during the first trimester of pregnancy. Modeled after The National Center for Prenatal and Postnatal Down Syndrome Resources, the program provides up-to-date, accurate information to obstetricians so they can be well informed when explaining the screenings and delivering a prenatal or postnatal diagnosis.
A Parent Packet is included in the materials for expecting parents that also introduces them to the services DSACO provides. The DS Medical Edge program is run by trained volunteers to deliver resources to medical practitioners in the 23 counties DSACO serves on a quarterly basis.
For information about this program, please contact Courtney Frost, Program Coordinator of New Parent Outreach.
