Monday, June 1, 2026 – Friday, June 5, 2026

Columbus Academy

4300 Cherry Bottom Rd | Gahanna, OH 43230

Applications for volunteers and riders will open on Monday, March 2!

Biking is more than just exercise and transportation: it’s a social activity, rite of passage, and first taste of independence. Transforming biking into an inclusive activity is the mission of iCan Bike, a national organization that conducts bike camps for people with special needs. This unique approach has enabled thousands with a variety of disabilities to become independent bicycle riders.

Requirements for Participation (Rider must meet all criteria below):

  • Minimum age – 10 years old at time of camp
  • Have a disability
  • Able to walk without an assistive device
  • Willing and able to wear a properly fitted bike helmet (Not Provided)
  • Able to sidestep to both sides
  • Able to attend camp all 5 days
  • Maximum weight of 220 lbs.
  • Minimum inseam of 20” (measure from floor while rider is wearing sneakers)
  • Every rider is required to have their own personal bicycle by Wednesday of Camp
  • Accompanied by parent/guardian willing and able to intervene or assist staff as requested in addressing any prolonged disruptive or aggressive behavior
NOTE: Dropping off Riders at the program is not permitted. A parent, legal guardian or other adult authorized to take responsibility for the Rider (e.g., another parent) must remain on site for the duration of the 75-minute program.

Volunteers Needed!

DSACO relies on the support of amazing volunteers to make iCan Bike Camp a success! Volunteers will be paired with a camper for the week and act as his/her “spotter” to provide encouragement, support, and run alongside the camper as they learn to ride independently!

    • Volunteers must be at least 14 years old by the start of camp (June 1, 2026).
    • We encourage volunteers to commit to attending all 5 days of camp for at least one session. Riders bond with their assigned volunteer(s) and they rely on the same person to be there supporting them each day of camp.
    • Volunteers should be able to provide physical and motivational support to their assigned camper.
