The DSACO Summer Learning Academy is designed to help children maintain or improve upon the skills they have worked so hard to gain throughout the school year.
Summer learning loss is a significant concern for all learners, and especially for those with special educational needs. Studies have shown that students learn best when instruction
is continuous*. The goals of the Summer Learning Academies are to mitigate summer learning loss, improve math and reading skills, and improve social development.
Each Summer Learning Academy classroom will provide 60 hours of academic instruction over 5 weeks with the focus of addressing 2 IEP goals for each student (Math & Literacy).
- 5 weeks | Monday, June 10 – Thursday, July 11, 2024
- 4 days per week | Monday – Thursday
- 3 hours per day | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Fee: $200/student
Within each classroom:
- 8 students on an IEP
- 2 certified teachers
- 1 classroom support specialist
Each IEP goal is assessed daily
- Initial assessment
- Weekly progress reports
- Final assessment
DSACO identified transportation as a barrier for students and offers to provide transportation home from the program using a reliable transportation partner.
Enrollment will be confirmed by Friday April 19th.
