                    Summer Learning Academy Expanding!

         “Academics Through the Arts”

IMG_0108

DSACO is proud to host a new and improved version of our Summer Learning Academy!  The  Columbus location  will serve students who have completed grades 1-4. New this summer, we will be piloting two additional locations: Lancaster and Newark.  The new locations will have abbreviated programs for students who have completed grades 2-6.

Why include integration of the arts? We know that students learn in different ways. Some do best with information that they see. Others find it easiest to learn by hearing something. Still others may be tactile learners who need a more hands-on approach. Kinesthetic learners may need to break out some dance moves to help them embrace a lesson and remember a concept better. Our certified teachers will use multi-sensory strategies to help meet the needs of all our learners.

The primary goals of the programs are to:

  • Minimize learning loss
  • Improve math and reading skills
  • Improve social development

Up to eight children with Down syndrome will be accepted into each of the programs, along with some typically developing peers. This group will have the benefit of certified teachers, peer interaction, and support personnel.
